Fostering

Help us find loving homes for our rescued cats today.

So you want to foster cats or kittens? Wonderful — thank you. Fostering is one of the most rewarding ways to help animals in need and makes a huge difference to our rescue and our community. Below is everything you need to know about the responsibilities and expectations for our foster families.

Consider your household and daily routine before applying:

  • Do you have a safe, cleanable space where a foster animal can stay?

  • Can you quarantine fosters from your other pets if needed?

  • Does your schedule allow for regular feeding, socialization, and basic care?

Transportation

Foster animals may need vet care for routine appointments or emergencies. Please confirm:

  • You have a valid driver’s license.

  • You can provide reliable transportation when required.

Food & Supplies

Thalia Barn provides or reimburses approved costs for essentials, including:

  • Food

  • Litter

  • Basic supplies required for the foster animal’s care

Foster Cycle

Foster lengths vary depending on each animal’s needs. Some factors that affect duration:

  • Age and health of the cat or kitten

  • Required medical treatment or recovery time

  • Time to find a permanent home

We ask our foster families to maintain regular communication with Thalia Barn so we can provide the best care and make timely decisions about next steps.
